On 13th September 2025, students from the 1BBA LLB program at St. Joseph’s College of Law visited Blessed Clare Special School for the Mentally Challenged in Kothanur for an outreach program. Before the visit, the entire class organised a donation drive, with everyone contributing generously. The drive was used to purchase essential items, including bedsheets, building blocks, yoga mats, clocks, puzzles, and chocolates, to support the daily needs of the children. The collective effort strengthened the spirit of teamwork and empathy within the class, as everyone came together to make a positive impact.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by the Sisters managing the school. The group was seated in the hall, where one of the Sisters provided a comprehensive briefing about the school’s background and mission. Established in 2010, the school has been serving children with intellectual disabilities and currently supports around 55 to 60 students, along with over 500 families from various areas around Bangalore. Free transportation is provided daily, ensuring that children from neighbourhoods such as Geddalahalli, Hennur Bande, Lingarajapuram, Nagavara, Kothanur, and others have access to education and personalised care. The school’s inclusive approach focuses on academic learning, life skills, and vocational training, allowing each child to lead a dignified and empowered life.

The day’s activities were filled with enthusiasm and interaction. Students engaged with the children through singing, dancing, and playing games like musical chairs. Teams were formed to encourage each child’s participation, creating a lively and supportive environment. Creative activities, such as handprint painting, making paper boats, and origami crafts, were also organised, allowing the children to express themselves freely. The event concluded with serving food and spending quality time with the students, further strengthening the bond between the class and the children.

The outreach program was a deeply enriching experience for everyone involved. Witnessing the joy and excitement of the children simply through shared activities and presence left a lasting impression. The day emphasised the importance of compassion, inclusion, and community service. The class extends its heartfelt gratitude to St. Joseph’s College of Law for facilitating this opportunity. The smiles and memories shared will continue to inspire and motivate the students in their future endeavours.
