VACCINATION DRIVE
Slum of H Colony 1 st Stage Indiranagar


The students of St Joseph’s College of Law had taken an initiative to conduct a free Covid-19 vaccination drive along with help of the BBMP health team of CV Raman Nagar constituency.

A survey was conducted by 7 students on 29 th August 2021 in H Colony, 1 st stage Indiranagar, Bangalore-560 038. It involved collecting primary data from the individuals in the locality about their vaccine requirements.

Shreya PS, Vimala Mary A, Rithvik Balanagraj B, Jonish Visva U, Andrew Selvam, Shreyas Gowda MR and GM Samrat Nikhil spent roughly two and a half hours at the location communicating with the localites under the guidance of our Director Rev Fr Jerald D’souza SJ ,principal Dr. Pratima Prabhakar, Vice Principal Mrs. Pauline Priya and the Faculty Coordinator Ms Lincy Joykutty. Ms Shriya & Ms Gayatri Nambyar compiled data after the survey carried out.

After a meeting held on 31 st August 2021 at 7pm, it was decided that the next step would be to approach the Nodal officer of CV Raman Nagar- Mr Randeep D, IAS to set up a mobile camp for vaccination at the aforementioned location.

On 4 th September 2021, Mr Samrat and MrJonish approached the police station and informed about the vaccination drive and got their permission. Meanwhile Vimala and Ms Shreya called up the persons from that area individually and informed them about the vaccination drive happening the following day with the help of compiled data.

The drive was successfully conducted on 5 th September 2021. Around 29 people had approached us and were vaccinated in H Colony. The latter half of the drive was held in Kempamma Temple Hall, 5 th main Indiranagar. 60+ people were vaccinated at this location. Another brief survey of a slum was conducted near Chinmaya Mission Road and according to the findings, 80-90% of the people were already vaccinated and the remaining were sent to the Kempamma Temple Hall and were promptly vaccinated.

The team, along with Dr Sushil, and Dr Yashwanth took the initiative to promote awareness about the benefits of getting vaccinated. They answered queries and concerns of the localities which encouraged them to get their near and dear ones vaccinated. Fr Jerald D’souza SJ, Director of St Joseph’s College of law presence motivated students to mobilise slum dwellers effectively.
