Intra-Class Collage Making Competition on “Caste in Contemporary India”

On 1st April 2025, an Intra-Class Collage Making Competition was conducted on the theme “Caste in Contemporary India.” The event saw enthusiastic participation from both first and second-year students, who used this platform to engage critically and creatively with one of India’s most pressing social issues.

The collages presented were a compelling blend of artistry and insight. Students employed a variety of materials to reflect the multifaceted reality of caste in India today. While some collages highlighted the deep-rooted discrimination, everyday violence, and systemic exclusion faced by marginalized communities, others celebrated the richness of India's social diversity and the ongoing struggles for equality and justice.

Themes such as manual scavenging, inter-caste marriage, Dalit assertion, and affirmative action policies were prominently featured. The juxtaposition of distress and hope was especially striking—many collages carried messages of resistance, reform, and the dream of an egalitarian society. It was heartening to witness young minds engaging with sensitivity, creativity, and social responsibility.
