Report on Orientation Programme for the Batch of 23-24

Orientation for the incoming batch of 2023-2024 was organised on 9th and 10th November 2023 culminating in the end a two-month bridge course. Spread across two days, the first-year students along with their parents and guardians were taken through a series of lectures on the history of the institution, rules and regulations as well as various committees of the college.

Day one began with a spiritual awakening and a soulful rendition of inter-faith prayers and meditative exercise. Principal Dr Pauline Priya gave the welcome address and invited the incoming students for a journey of rigorous academic and professional commitment. Fr Jerald D’Souza SJ gave the director’s address and spoke to students and parents on the vision and mission of the institution, the stress on a holistic and humanistic approach to society and the need for making a well-rounded individual through classroom and outreach initiatives. This was followed by the Rector’s address by Fr Brian Periera SJ, Vice president of Bangalore Jesuit Education Society who began the talk with the importance of handholding and stewardship through the ignatian principles embedded in Jesuit teaching and instruction, history of various Jesuit institutions across the world and the need to become lawyers of character and strength to handle various challenges with the passage of time. Dr Sneha Balaraj, Vice principal delivered the vote of thanks with a brief tea break.

Principal Dr Pauline Priya introduced the students to the course work, campus rules, overview of internal assessment procedures and the emphasis on internships concluding with a question-and- answer session by parents. After a lunch break, all committees led by their faculty coordinators gave presentations on law and non-law committees, events organised in the past and proposed events for the next semester.

Day two commenced with a prayer led by Ms Madhura George. This was followed by a session Prof.Rahul Singh addressed the students on “the importance on legal education and need to equip oneself with necessary skills and aptitude required for law. This was followed by session on “building self-confidence by Ms. Sritha Sanon, Montford College, it was interactive exercise with hands on tools on confidence building. The Orientation concluded with talks by two alumni Mr Christopher and Ms Shazia of 2018 -2021 batch shared their experiences on balancing academics with moot courts and internships.
