Admission to the first year of all courses in colleges under the jurisdiction of the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) is strictly based on merit, based on the marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination.

Eligibility Criteria

LL.B. (3 Years)

Admission to the first year of the 3-year LL.B. course, in all colleges under the jurisdiction of Karnataka State Law University, is strictly based on merit, based on the marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination.

To be eligible for admission to the 3-year LL.B. course, the candidate should:

  1. Have graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature, or an equivalent national institution recognised as a Deemed to be University, or a Foreign University recognised as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence.
  2. Be thirty years of age or less in the case of general category applicants, and thirty-five years or less in the case of applicants from SC, ST and other backward communities, as on 1st June.
  3. Have secured not less than 45% of total marks (44.5% and above shall be treated as 45%) in the case of general category applicants, and 40% of total marks in the case of SC and ST applicants.

B.A., LL.B. (5 Years Integrated)

Admission to the first year of the 5-year B.A., LL.B. integrated course is strictly based on merit, based on the marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination.

To be eligible for admission to the 5-year B.A., LL.B. integrated course, the candidate should:

  1. Have successfully completed the Pre-University course or Senior Secondary School course ('+2') or equivalent (such as 11+1, or 'A' level in the Senior School Leaving Certificate course) from a recognised University of India or outside, or from a Senior Secondary Board or equivalent constituted or recognised by the Union or by the State Government, or from any equivalent institution in a foreign country recognised by the government of that country for the purpose of issuing the qualifying certificate on successful completion of the course.
  2. Be twenty years of age or less in the case of general category applicants, and less than twenty-two years in the case of applicants from SC, ST and other backward communities, as on 1st June.
  3. Have secured not less than 45% of total marks (44.5% and above shall be treated as 45%) in the qualifying examination in the case of general category applicants, and 40% (39.5% and above shall be treated as 40%) in the case of SC and ST applicants.

Applicants who have obtained the +2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree Certificate after pursuing studies through distance or correspondence education shall also be considered eligible for admission.

Applicants who have obtained 10+2, graduation or post-graduation through the Open Universities system directly, without having any basic qualification for pursuing such studies, are not eligible for admission.

B.B.A., LL.B. (5 Years Integrated)

LL.M. (2 Years) in Intellectual Property Rights

  1. An applicant who has graduated in law from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature, or an equivalent national institution recognised as a Deemed to be University, or a Foreign University recognised as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for the LL.M. degree course.
  2. The minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination shall not be below 45% of total marks in the case of general category applicants and 40% of total marks in the case of SC and ST applicants.

Eligibility Certificate

For candidates from outside Karnataka State / Karnataka PU Board / CBSE, and all foreign candidates

Applicants who have passed the qualifying examination from universities or boards other than those located in Karnataka State / Karnataka PU Board / CBSE, or from a foreign country, must obtain the Eligibility Certificate issued by the Registrar, Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi, before taking admission.

No admission can be made in the College without this Eligibility Certificate.

The Eligibility Certificate is issued by the KSLU Academic Section at Hubballi for candidates who have obtained their qualifying degree or certificate outside Karnataka State, and for all foreign candidates.

Candidates may apply for the Eligibility Certificate to KSLU in the prescribed form, by post or in person, by paying the necessary fees to the office of KSLU, Hubballi, along with attested copies of the 10th, 12th, UG and PG certificates as applicable, the statement of marks, the Migration Certificate, and transcripts issued by the concerned University, Board or Department.

The qualifying degree or certificates should be in Kannada or English only.

Candidates who have obtained their qualifying degree or certificates from outside Karnataka State should produce countersigned original certificates from the issuing authorities or universities; otherwise, eligibility will not be considered.

Migration Certificate

All students who have studied courses other than those of the Pre-University Board of Karnataka, and students who have completed a degree course, shall produce a Migration Certificate.
