At the heart of the Jesuit tradition of education.
At St. Joseph's College of Law, care for the whole person, cura personalis, is at the heart of the Jesuit tradition of education. The College provides a confidential counselling service to support students in their personal, emotional and academic well-being throughout their time at the College.
Law school can be demanding. Students may experience academic pressure, examination stress, difficulty adjusting to college life or a new city, relationship or family concerns, anxiety, low mood, or other personal challenges. The College Counsellor offers a safe, non-judgemental space where students can talk through such concerns and develop ways of coping.
Students may seek counselling for, among other things:
Direct approach: Students may approach the Counsellor directly to schedule a session.
Referral: A class mentor, faculty member or committee may also refer a student to the Counsellor where they believe the student would benefit from support.
Counselling sessions are confidential. Information shared with the Counsellor is not disclosed without the student's consent, except where:
Counselling support is also available to students involved in matters under the College's other student support mechanisms.
Under the Anti-Ragging Policy, students affected by ragging are offered counselling as part of the College's support measures, and the Anti-Ragging Committee may seek the Counsellor's assistance.
Under the Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell policy, the College provides access to counselling services for both the complainant and the respondent, as necessary.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact emergency services. Free, confidential mental health support is also available round the clock through the Government of India's Tele-MANAS helpline.
