VISIT TO VIDHAN SOUDHA, KARNATAKA on 22nd February, 2023

The visit was conducted by the college on 22nd February, 2023. 3rd year students, i.e., 3 BCOM-LLB and 3 BBA-LLB were taken on this educational visit to the Vidhan Soudha of Karnataka located in the capital of the state Bengaluru, in the heart of the city. The students departed from the college at 10:15 am and reached the Vidhan Soudha by 10:30 am. All the students then entered the Vidhan Soudha post a security check-in and assembled on the 2nd floor for further instructions.

The security then gave instructions to the students on what is allowed in the Assembly and what is not allowed. After receiving instructions the students were given the information on the body posture that is to be maintained in the Assembly as it is one of the most important factors that was to be followed in the Assembly.

The students were then taken into the assembly’s gallery area post a security check-in where we were permitted to be seated and watch the session live at 11:50 am. During the session the students noticed that Hon’ble Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was present in the session which by in itself instilled the excitement of understanding and learning about how the Assembly functions.

A plethora of issues were raised in the session. A few issues that were raised lead to discussions among the students. Issues like how B-Tech students like other engineering students should get a 15% reservation for work in agricultural areas, the number of KSRTC buses must be increased in the village areas as board examinations are approaching and this increase would make transportation easier for the students was also raised. An issue with respect to the budget was also raised, an amount of Rs. 16 Crores was asked for construction of roads in the state.

Post these issues being raised, at around 12:15 the officers asked the students to leave as one can watch a session only for 15-20 mins. The students finally offered their gratitude towards the officials for their guidance and the opportunity to watch the session live. They then departed.
