'Let's combat ( 19th February)

It's rightly said, "Gender equality is the unfinished business of the 21st Century". Gender is a broad spectrum that is not just limited to men and women. In order to bring out awareness on this especially in the workplaces where they are exploited the most on gender basis, the COMMERCE AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT (COMED) cell of St Joseph's College of Law successfully conducted an act-based event 'Let's Combat' with the theme being 'Gender Inequalities in workplace' on 19th February 2022. The event was graced with the presence of the judges Ms. Dorothy Dave, Senior HR Associate at TESCO accompanied by our very own Mr.Rajkumar, a dancer cum zumba trainer and a Professor at SJCL. The event was energized by the acts of the participants who enthusiastically participated and came out with solutions for the issue of concern through their strategic acts.

Launch Pad ( 19th February)

On the 19th of February, the Commerce and Entrepreneurship Development Cell conducted Launchpad, an event akin to popular tv show shark tank where budding and aspiring entrepreneurs would pitch their product or service with a sound business plan and strategy for the same. In total 4 teams came up with products and services that would address or fall in line with the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations. Teams presented their product along with business plans, marketing strategies and financials. Each teams explained their product or service with the utmost confidence and professionalism before our highly esteemed judges Mr. Shishir Miglani and Mr. Thomas Alexander, a CEO of a software company and a professor of economics respectively. On the outset, the event was very informative and exhilarating and was a great learning experience for not only the participants but also the observants.

Nation's entrepreneur (21st February)

Nation's entrepreneur a unique event where the participants portrayed themselves as the Nation's leader with the mindset of an entrepreneur and presented their 5 year action plan with a blend of business ideas in it. Adarsh Bandari a young and enthusiastic entrepreneur assessed the participant's plans and presentation and gave them an insightful impression accordingly. The event was a new learning experience for the participants and the audience as well.



Digital Pamphlet Making (21st February)

On the 21st of February, Digital Pamphlet Making a competition where the creativity of the participants was really put to the test as they had to represent an Entrepreneurial and MSME Scheme artistically on paper or in a digital format. It had some fierce competition as all the participants had wonderfully depicted the various schemes in an eye-catching manner before our esteemed judges Mr. Manjunath Nayaker and Mr. Thomas Alexander. Mr. Nayaker is a legal specialist and a consultant to corporate firms. Sir is also a national award-winning Indian actor better known by his screen name Master Manjunath or "Swamy" for his lead role in the television series Malgudi Days. Mr. Thomas Alexander, a member of the SJCL family, is a professor of economics and profound artist.

On 22nd February 2022 the COMED cell of SJCL was given the opportunity to host a seminar on 'Entrepreneurial Legacy' followed by the valedictory of the inter-collegiate event 'Entrepreneurial Week 2022'.

The key speaker for the day was Advocate Narayan Kumar, an astute advocate and entrepreneur, who with an astounding interactive session helped the students discern the various opportunities and concerns around the globe. He enriched them with his experiences of how he started off with the study of Chartered Accountancy and later what led him to specialize in the legal field. In addition to being an entrepreneur and an advocate he also specializes in multiple kinds of law like corporate, matrimonial and criminal to name a few. He enlightened the students as to how they should be strategic while handling clients through examples and demonstrations. The students had the privilege to interact with Ms. Swagata Paul who had accompanied sir to the seminar. Ms Swagata Paul with her short talk gave a lot of insights regarding the law and internships which piqued the audience interest.

After an interesting and interactive seminar, the highlight of the day arrived, which was the valedictory ceremony. Valedictory was kick-started by Emcee Mr Ajay Varghese. The gathering was warmly welcomed by the student coordinator, Mr Owaise Naqhi, followed by a seraphic song by our fellow students after which Fr. Jerald D'souza blessed the gathering with a few motivational words. A brief summary of all the events conducted was presented to the audience through an event report by Mr Nikhil Joseph. Then arrived the limelight of the day, felicitation of the winners and participants. The winners of the events received their awards from Advocate Narayan Kumar and Ms. Swagata. The day came to an end with a heartfelt gratitude given by our very own Ms. Lincy Joykutty, faculty co-ordinator of commerce & Entrepreneurship development cell through a vote of thanks. Our beloved Fr Jerald D’souza SJ,Ms Pauline Priya ,principal and Ms Sneha Balraj constant guidance added value to this event. It was indeed an event to remember. It was a wonderful, fun and enjoyable week.
