The Film and Documentary Committee of SJCL organised a screening of the documentary Against the Tide by Sarvnik Kaur. The event aimed to introduce students to the lived experiences of traditional fishermen and the socio-economic challenges shaping their lives. 10 students participated.

The screening drew an engaged audience and was followed by an open discussion. Participants reflected on themes such as environmental uncertainty, livelihood precarity, intergenerational tension, and the impact of modern fishing technologies. Students shared thoughtful observations on how the documentary portrays resilience and the complex trade-offs within coastal communities.

The session successfully fostered critical engagement and broadened understanding of contemporary social issues through the medium of film.
