Kairos (2023-24)

A magnificent sports extravaganza was organized by the Sports Committee of St. Joseph’s College of Law, Bengaluru on various dates in the present academic year, in which the students from both 5-year and 3-year LLB course participated with great fervor and manifested their athletic skills with an unimpeachable finesse.

On 15th February 2024, for the first time since the inception of the college, the Sports Committee conducted selection matches at St. Joseph’s University Grounds for forming a college Football team. A total number of 36 students showed up for selection matches. Initially, a team comprising of 20 students were selected, which was further reduced to 15 based on their performance in practice matches played against St. Joseph’s University and St. Joseph’s College of Commerce on 19th and 20th February 2024, respectively. Considering the concept of Sports for all throughout the academic year, the Sports Committee organized inter-class sports tournaments for students. In addition, the students participated in KSLU’s Inter-Collegiate Tournament 2023-24 as well.

The following inter-class tournaments have been organized by the Sports Committee:

1. Basketball (both men and women)

2. Throwball (only women)

3. Table-Tennis (both men and women)

4. Chess (both men and women)

5. Badminton (both men and women)

6. Cricket (only men)

7. Football (both men and women)



The much-anticipated annual sports event, Kairos, began with a smashing start on May 25th, Saturday. The event was officially inaugurated with the first serve by Principal Dr.Pauline Priya, setting the stage for a day filled with thrilling badminton matches across five categories: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The energy and excitement were palpable as participants gave their best to clinch victory and bring glory to their respective classes.

The BADMINTON TOURNAMENT was conducted on 25th May 2024 at St. Joseph’s College of Law Auditorium. The tournament showcased fierce competition and remarkable talent. The winners from respective categories are as under.

The BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT was conducted at the college auditorium from 27th to 31st May 2024. The audience witnessed a lot of sportsmanship from the participants and the auditorium was filled with high level of enthusiasm. The final Basketball Men’s match between 1 LLB and 5 BA LLB (A) was a thrilling encounter, marked by intense competition and strategic plays. The list of winners is as under:

The THROWBALL TOURNAMENT (GIRLS) was conducted on 9th June 2024 at St. Joseph’s University Grounds. The list of winners is as under:

The TABLE-TENNIS TOURNAMENTwas conducted on 27th and 28th May 2024. After three competitive qualifying rounds, two teams in each category made it to the finals. The list of winners is as under:

The CRICKET TOURNAMENT was conducted in St. Joseph’s University grounds on 2nd and 9th June 2024. The tournament culminated in a thrilling competition amongst various teams. Despite reaching the quarter-finals stage with six teams, inclement weather forced the organizers to prematurely conclude the tournament. Winners were determined based on run rates due to the incomplete matches. The event showcased exceptional talent and competitive spirit, drawing a substantial audience who witnessed electrifying cricket prowess. Regardless of the challenges faced, including the weather disruptions, the event successfully highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst its students through spirited athletic competition. The winners of Men’s cricket are as under:

The Football tournament was conducted in St. Joseph’s University grounds on 26th May 2024. In an exciting final match in the men’s category, the audience were on the edge of their seats as the result was decided in a nail-biting penalty shootout. The much-anticipated clash was a display of sheer skill, strategy and determination from both the teams. In the women’s category, the final match showcased the class, sportsmanship spirit, teamwork and dedication. The winners from respective categories are as under:

To conclude, the KAIROS (2023-24) WINNERS TROPHY and RUNNERS TROPHY is bagged by 4 BA LLB (B) and 1 LLB, respectively.

In addition to the foregoing, the students of St. Joseph’s College of Law, Bengaluru participated in the following KSLU’s Inter-Collegiate Tournaments:

1. Basketball team (Men’s and Women’s category) participated in the KSLU’s Inter-Collegiate Tournament 2023-24 organized by M.S. Ramaiah College of Law, Bengaluru on 10th and 11th of January 2024 and the Men’s team emerged as RUNNERS-UP.

2. Football team (Men’s category) participated in the KSLU’s Inter-Collegiate Tournament 2023-24 organized by J.S.S. Law College, Mysuru on 22nd and 23rd February 2024.

3. Badminton team (Men’s and Women’s category) participated in KSLU’s Inter-Collegiate Tournament 2023-24 organized by S.D.M. Law College, Mangaluru on 6th and 7th June 2024 and the Women’s team secured 4th POSITION.

4. Table-Tennis team (Men’s and Women’s category) participated in KSLU’s Inter-Collegiate Tournament 2023-24 organized by Sheshadripuram Law College, Bengaluru on 13th June 2024.
