Objectives
• To normalize mental wellbeing in all walks of life
• To provide a glimpse of easy options available for self-care
• To find peace in everyday life by utilizing normal household equipment and simple techniques

Soul Sync was a maiden initiative by Mental Health Committee to focus on students’ wellness on a larger scale. It consisted of two parts where the first one was a Zumba session in the quadrangle. Jomin lead us through an energetic Zumba workout session with his toe-tapping and body moving numbers which made us dance happily with our friends.

The other part of Soul Sync was in the auditorium for the second half of the day. The auditorium housed four separate corners in attempts to provide students with four options to take care of their wellness other than meeting the student counsellor. The four corners were Sports Corner, Art Corner, Pet Corner and Peace Corner. The Sports Corner had 3 challenges aimed at providing sports fans with adrenaline-rushing challenges to motivate them to turn to sports in times of stress. At the Art Corner, students were motivated to express themselves in art form and their works were showcased there. The Pet Corner was the most sort-after section as the students were showered with unconditional love by three dogs and one cat. These pets were allowed to be a part of this therapy after careful scrutiny of their health and behavior. At the Peace Corner, breathing exercises were conducted in attempts to help students make an informed decision to inculcate this as part of their daily routine. Overall Soul Sync was able to reach its target audience and create an awareness among students of the various options available in self-care and the need to prioritize self-care which will be a vital part of their professional life too.

The Mental Health Committee thanks our college management for supporting this initiative and prioritizing students’ mental wellbeing. Our sincere appreciation to the faculty for motivating the students to attend Soul Sync and also our students for giving mental wellbeing a try!!! A special note of gratitude to Devisha for guiding our students through the breathing techniques and meditation at the Peace Corner. Our deepest appreciation goes to the pet parents who were glad to share their loving pet with our students – Amulya with Charles, the Shih Tzu; Jomin with Bella, the cat; Purva with Cheeku and Vedanth with his Shih Tzu. The Mental Health Committee is looking forward to making SJCL a supporting campus with the ideals of cura personalis enrooted in all.
