The NSS committee of St Joseph’s College of Law partnered with the Rotary Club, Bangalore began their journey in community service with a healthcare camp at KS Garden, Shanti Nagar on 18th December 2022. The NSS team started in the early hours at 8am in the morning by setting up separate stations for blood pressure, blood sugar and Eye camp for the poor and needy in the area. The Eye check-up began at 9:00 am with all aged people eager to get the test done.

Students also helped organize the crowd to ensure ease of movement through the healthcare camp and no crowding. They also made necessary seating arrangements for those awaiting consultation. It was a great learning experience to the students of NSS unit.

In total 173 checkups were conducted. A brief analysis of the collective results led to the understanding that a large number suffered from Cataracts and Short-sightedness. Free spectacles were distributed to those who had short or long sight problems.

The NSS committee ended the day with a meal and a discussion on their experience, learnings and suggestions for a way forward to provide such camps to the needy across the city.
