Talk on the "Religious Freedom Matters" by Adv. Tehmina Arora, Director, ADF On 16th December, 2022

On 16th December, 2022, Constitutional Club, St Joseph’s College of Law, Bangalore, organized a Talk on the topic of ‘Religious Freedom Matters’. Advocate Tehmina Arora, Director, ADF India. Since joining ADF India in 2012, she has focused on working with allied attorneys, providing legal support, training, and advocacy to help Christians and churches targeted for their faith.

Ms. Arora has the distinction of appearing before the Supreme Court of India and various high courts across India, challenging various laws pertaining to curtailment of religious rights of minorities, including the successful challenge to an Indian law requiring religious converts to register with the state, securing compensation for victims of communal and targeted violence, and reopening places of worship that had been arbitrarily shut down. In 2018, Arora was awarded the Champion of Human Rights Award by the Delhi Minority Commission for her services to the community. In 2010, she participated in the International Visitors Leadership Program, a prestigious professional exchange program of the US State Department.

Around 60 students, belonging to all semesters of the Institute participated in the Event, which lasted for around an hour. The session included discussions on contemporary legal issues pertaining to ‘Religious Freedom’ and upholding of rights of minorities
